Cabot School District curriculum staff reported Oct. 17 that ARP ESSER activity concluded Sept. 30 and summarized how funds were used to support health, safety and operational continuity during COVID-19.
Melanie Duerkop told the board the final portion of ESSER (ARP ESSER) was used to supply district needs across departments. Pam Wilson showed a short video demonstration of TextHelp, a state-provided program available free to students that reads text aloud, highlights passages, offers word suggestions, enables 'talk and type' and builds vocabulary lists. Haley Beavert presented on Universal Design for Learning and clarified the differences between accommodations and modifications for students.
Aaron Randolph announced a district work session next month to review ATLAS test data by school; Randolph said the ATLAS goal is to confirm students are learning grade-level standards and reported that the district outperformed the state in all tested grade levels.
The board recognized teacher Jennifer Bryant for efforts to help struggling students. The curricular items were presented for information; no formal board action on these curriculum updates is recorded in the meeting minutes.
