Cabot reports near-complete practice pavilion, Pre-K site progress and security upgrades funded by grants and bonds

Michael Byrd told the Cabot School Board that the district’s practice pavilion construction is roughly 95% complete and that landscaping will begin next week while turf is being installed. Byrd said Pre-K metal buildings are expected to arrive in October and the Pre-K North slab is complete. The district’s carpet project is complete except for Fine Arts and CAO spaces, and a bid opening for the special programs annex is scheduled for Thursday.
Byrd also reported the district used a $506,800 School Safety Grant and $1.2 million from a second-lien bond sale for security projects. The district installed electronic access controls, visitor-management systems, window covers for classroom doors, classroom locks, exterior-visible room numbers and touch-bar exit devices where needed. Byrd said the district has applied for additional grant funds to continue safety work.
Byrd noted turf is being removed at the fieldhouse to start a locker-room expansion; the board received the facilities updates as information.
