Cabot board approves school choice changes, bus driver pay schedule and recruitment incentive

The Cabot School Board approved several policy and personnel items in a series of votes at its Nov. 19 meeting.
The board voted 7-0 to adopt updates to the School Choice policy for the 2024–2025 year. Trustees then approved a new bus driver salary schedule to begin Jan. 1, 2025 (motion by James Hertzog, second by Marvin Jones; 7-0). The board also approved a 2024–2025 bus driver recruitment incentive program, as presented, that provides $500 to current transportation employees who recruit a driver who accumulates 240 credits within one calendar year; the incentive program was approved 7-0 and set to remain active through June 30, 2025.
Separately, the board approved an employee disclosure for Kelly Spencer and Harrell's LLC for the 2024–2025 school year (motion passed 7-0) and voted to authorize the superintendent to approve the agreement in case 43CV-23-574 (7-0). Personnel recommendations were approved later in the meeting after Board member Kevin Tipton left; the personnel vote was recorded 6-0.
