Cabot board reviews timeline for K–6 charter proposal; Child Development Center reports program growth

District staff presented a timeline Nov. 19 for a proposed K–6 charter and provided an update on the recently opened Child Development Center.
Aaron Randolph outlined steps for the K–6 charter proposal: public comment in December or January, submission of a letter of intent in February and a target opening of fall 2026 for a modified traditional model. Randolph said the district plans public engagement before any formal application decisions.
Suzie Kelley and Lyndsie Odle reported that the Child Development Center opened Aug. 12, 2024, initially with two classrooms serving nine children, and has since added another class and teacher. Staff told the board the district plans to open a P3 room for the 2025–2026 school year to expand early childhood capacity.
Board members heard the timeline and updates but took no final action on the charter proposal during the meeting.
