Council pauses on moratorium request for Colonial Village construction after developer offers talks

The council addressed concerns about new home construction in the Colonial Village Subdivision under Item #3. City Attorney Jim Elliott said a plat for the subdivision was approved and recorded in 2012 and reviewed laws pertinent to the lots.
Mr. Cribb, allowed by the attorney to speak, described the steps he had taken while building a house in the subdivision. Councilmember Carla Coley questioned Mr. Cribb and asked the council to impose a moratorium on new construction until the council and P2 Construction could meet to resolve outstanding issues but allow work already in progress to continue. Mr. Cribb said he would be willing to meet with the council to discuss the concerns.
City Attorney Jim Elliott told the council that a moratorium must be approved in writing at the time of approval and that he would prepare the necessary documentation and follow up with City Manager Richard Newbern. The council did not adopt a moratorium during the session.
