Little Falls board rejects $4,200 contract to advance comprehensive plan; discussion tabled

The Town Board of Little Falls voted on July 8 to reject a $4,200 contract to retain consultant Jordyan Mueller for phase two of the town’s comprehensive plan. Supervisor Dan Casler moved to hire Ms. Mueller after reading her proposed engagement strategy; the motion failed for lack of a majority.
The vote on Resolution #61 was recorded as Supervisor Dan Casler and Councilman Kevin Sullivan voting aye and Councilmen Kirk Schwasnick and Mitch Soules voting no, leaving the motion defeated. Following the vote the board decided to table the matter until its next regular meeting.
Kim Pepper, a member of the steering committee, told the board that locally and regionally there is a trend toward greater public involvement and praised the town’s survey response, saying it showed interest from younger families and that “it gives people a voice in the process.” Supervisor Casler had earlier described the steering committee’s plan to draft three or four example comprehensive-plan options to prompt discussion.
The board did not adopt the consultant contract at the July meeting; members indicated they would revisit the scope, timing and outreach approach at a future session.
