The Section 5 Town Council voted unanimously March 17 to donate $5,500 to the Chevy Chase Fire Department and $5,500 to the Bethesda-Chevy Chase Rescue Squad, the Town Manager reported.
The donation was introduced during the Town Manager’s report. Town Manager Rachel DeLong asked whether the Council would like to continue the Section’s annual donations to local emergency services, and the Council approved the payments "to each organization," with no mover/second or roll-call tally recorded in the minutes.
The donations were presented as a budgetary item during the Manager’s report; the minutes do not specify the funding source or whether the payments are recurring beyond the current fiscal year. The minutes also do not record which councilmember moved or seconded the motion.
The action was recorded in the meeting minutes as a unanimous vote. The Council will incorporate this spending into the FY26 budget process when the Town Manager presents the draft in April.
