The licensing inspector reported to the Caroline County Board on July 24 that staff have been conducting routine inspections, investigating complaints and encountering a "large variety of international fake IDs" during ID checks.
"I went out to Preston Roadhouse, inspected them before they opened," the inspector said while summarizing recent site visits and follow-up plans. The inspector told the board an anonymous complaint will likely result in violations brought to the board in the coming month or two and emphasized investigative steps staff follow rather than relying solely on anonymous tips.
Board members and staff also discussed a proposal for alcohol service aboard a tour boat and said they have been coordinating with Maryland DNR and local police to determine jurisdiction and inspection requirements for on-water service. Separately, staff reported an Exxon convenience-store operator expects to open in about three weeks and that officials are seeing a modest increase in small community businesses returning to operation.
The board heard the inspector's report and asked staff to continue scheduled inspections and to bring any formal violations back to the board for action.
