Parks director reports fall pruning, youth program schedules and upcoming Oktoberfest

Tony Dobson, Parks, Recreation & Forestry Director for the Village of Slinger, updated the board on forestry and recreation matters and announced an upcoming community event.
Dobson said fall tree pruning will begin soon and that Supervisor Josh Feller is preparing an Urban Forestry grant application for 2025. He reported the 2024 little league season is wrapping up, with a final awards night scheduled Wednesday at Community Park. Flag football registration is underway and play will begin later in August; Saturday games will be held at Breuer Park. Dobson said Little Gridders will continue at Community Park because those fields require lights.
Dobson also announced Oktoberfest at Community Park on Wednesday, Aug. 28 from 6:00 to 9:00 PM, featuring the Bob Breuer Band, German beers on tap, German food and a German dance group. The board set its next meeting for Tuesday, Sept. 3, 2024, and adjourned at 6:44 PM.
