Slinger RDA approves $2,200 TID contribution for museum parking-lot lighting

The Slinger Redevelopment Authority on Sept. 4 approved a $2,200 contribution from Tax Increment District (TID) #6 to help the Slinger Historical Museum install lighting in its parking lot. The authority voted in favor after Trustee Dean Otte moved the funding and Trustee Sherry Schaefer seconded the motion.

President Scott Stortz told members that the Village Board referred the museum’s request to the RDA and that staff had been contacted by the museum about receiving funding assistance for the parking-lot lighting project. "The project is estimated to cost $4,400 and the group is asking if the Village would be willing to consider providing half of the cost or $2,200," Stortz said.

Trustee Otte’s motion specified the $2,200 be provided as an advance from the RDA and later reimbursed from TID #6. The motion was recorded as "Motion Otte/Schaefer to approve a TID #6 cost of $2,200, to be given to the Slinger Historical Museum for lighting in the parking lot." The motion passed; no roll-call tally was recorded in the minutes.

The decision followed the RDA’s discussion of whether the request aligned with façade program guidelines; members noted it appears more appropriate as a TID expenditure than a façade grant. No additional conditions or implementation dates were recorded. The RDA adjourned at 8:23 a.m. after completing the item.
