Caroline County grants Chamber temporary permits for Sept. 14 wine tasting and dinner

The Caroline County Board of License Commissioners approved two temporary licenses Aug. 28 allowing the Chamber of Commerce to hold a wine tasting and a separate dinner on Sept. 14 at the Cow Barn.
Tracy Snyder, who gave her name and address for the record, described plans for a charcuterie wine tasting from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. with Crow Winery providing four 1-ounce pours per attendee and a limited tasting menu; the tasting will be ticketed. "We're using Crow Winery ... we'll just have 4 wines. That's it," Snyder said. She told the board the dinner will run from 5 to 10 p.m. with a cash bar selling beer and wine by the glass.
Board members discussed whether bottles would be sold to-go; Snyder said they would not plan to sell bottles for customers to take away but might allow a table to purchase a bottle for consumption at that table. Commissioners recommended selling by the glass to reduce the risk of off-premise consumption. The board made and approved two separate motions — one for the tasting and one for the dinner — with the normal condition that the licensee follow state and county training and inspection requirements.
The wine tasting is planned primarily outdoors in a contained backyard area at the barn if weather permits; event logistics, staffing and the ticketed entry were discussed to ensure compliance with county rules. The board advised organizers to coordinate final procurement and staffing details with county inspectors before the event.
