Ferrysburg City Council approved a three-year lease extension for Basketball Basics at 17520 Ridge Avenue and agreed to terms on utilities and floor maintenance.
Craig, city staff, said the draft lease would continue the arrangement that has been in place since about 2010 and proposed a three-year extension with utilities either as 5% of building use or as a flat average of $85 per month; the $85 average was the staff recommendation. Council debated whether Basketball Basics or the city should pay for floor refinishing every two years; staff estimated refinishing at roughly $3,000 every two years. Council agreed the city would maintain the floor and that purchasing a commercial floor-cleaning machine (approximately $3,000) would be the tenant’s option, not the city’s.
On the motion to approve the lease extension, the council voted in favor.
