Robbins police request donations, expand camera system and plan safety outreach

Police Chief Sheppard told the board on July 12 that the department is seeking donated items to distribute at National Night Out and will hold a safety day next Thursday at the community center summer camp. In response to a resident question about whether squad cars have GPS and whether home-camera footage can be shared with police, Chief Sheppard said video can be emailed to the department. Trustee Michael Collier Sr. said the village currently operates eight Flock cameras and hopes to install six more to expand coverage.
The chief asked residents to consider donating items (not money) for outreach and community events; no formal funding requests or purchases were voted on at the meeting.
