Colmar Manor agrees to accept up to $100,000 in county recreation project funds and amends FY25 budget

On March 18 the Colmar Manor Town Council approved resolution R-09-2025 to accept up to $100,000 in project-charge recreation funding from the county and to amend the FY25 budget so the town could receive the full award.

Town Administrator Holcomb told the council the county approved up to $100,000 and that staff had identified $70,495 in eligible recreation expenditures already spent or encumbered. Holcomb said the resolution amends the current-year budget to add $29,505 in line items for class instructors, recreational supplies and a small special-events increase so the town can accept the full allocation.

"We were approved up to a $100,000 to cover recreation expenses," Holcomb said, and staff recommended adding line items for class instructors, supplies, and special events to match the approved grant amount. he added that the award covers the current fiscal year and that future eligibility is not guaranteed.

Council member Emerts moved to pass the resolution; Allison Page seconded. The council voted in favor with no opposition recorded.

Why it matters: The funds reimburse prior recreation spending and expand near-term programming capacity, including paying instructors and buying supplies. Holcomb said the award is not guaranteed annually and depends on county nomination processes.

What's next: Staff will amend the FY25 budget as authorized and proceed with the expenses described in the resolution; the council will consider future budget implications when reviewing FY26.
