The Shawano School District board voted on May 12 to add two 1.0 full-time equivalent teaching positions for the 2025–26 school year and to approve districtwide salary increases averaging 2.95%.
Director of Human Resources Janelle Schraufnagel and Finance Director Bryan Kadlec presented a staffing plan that included one kindergarten teacher FTE and one third-grade teacher FTE (assigned to Olga Brener or LEADS). Presenters told the board they were confident the current budget could support the additions. The board approved the staffing additions as presented.
On compensation, the board approved salary increases for all employee groups averaging 2.95 percent, with a total estimated annual cost of $529,954.00. The recorded vote on the salary motion was: Aye — Karen Houston, Mike Musolff, Jeana Winslow, Tim Renard; No — Bobbi Lemerond, Frank Kugel; Abstain — Al Pyatskowit, Christine McKinnies, John Arens. The motion carried.
The board did not direct additional immediate changes to staffing structure beyond the two positions approved; budget updates were noted through March and buildings project billing was reported separately in the superintendent’s update.
