Shawano board hears update on Act 95 and considers five-year RVA invested membership

At the Dec. 9 meeting, Shawano Community High School Principal Matt Raduechel updated the board on Act 95 ("The Wisconsin Guarantee") and said the district will include related information in the SCHS course description booklet and student handbook.
Superintendent Kurt Krizan also presented information about the Rural Virtual Academy (RVA) Invested Membership. Krizan said the invested membership would be a five-year agreement that provides a seat on the RVA board, tuition savings for the district and stability for participating families. He noted 39 students currently participate in RVA programming, plus one special-education student and one 4K student. Krizan said the invested membership would save the district money and that the board would consider formal approval in January.
Separately, Raduechel presented additions to the SCHS course description booklet; the board approved those course additions during the meeting.
