Shawano School District elects Tim Renard president after secret ballot

The Shawano School District Board of Education completed its annual re-organization on May 12, electing Tim Renard as board president after two rounds of secret balloting.
The contest for president opened with nominations of Jeana Winslow, Bobbi Lemerond and Tim Renard. Board members conducted a secret ballot; the first tally was Winslow 4, Renard 4 and Lemerond 1. A second ballot gave Renard a 5–4 margin over Winslow, and the board declared Renard president. The motion to close nominations was moved by Frank Kugel and seconded by Bobbi Lemerond.
The board then selected other officers for the coming year. Karen Houston nominated Jeana Winslow for vice president; after a motion to close nominations by Al Pyatskowit (seconded by Frank Kugel), the board elected Winslow unanimously. For clerk, Christine McKinnies nominated Bobbi Lemerond, who declined; Lemerond then nominated Al Pyatskowit. John Arens moved to close nominations and the board unanimously elected Pyatskowit as clerk. Jeana Winslow nominated Karen Houston for treasurer; after the customary close-nominations motion (moved by John Arens, seconded by Christine McKinnies) Houston was elected treasurer.
The re-organization concluded with routine motions carried by voice vote. The board scheduled no immediate policy changes associated with the new leadership; the meeting moved on to regular agenda business.
