The Caddo Parish registrar of voters, Dale Sibley, answered commissioners’ questions Thursday about recent precinct changes, mail‑in ballots and the schedule for early voting ahead of the June elections.
Sibley said precinct changes and on‑the‑ground management are the clerk of court’s responsibility; the registrar’s office receives updates and publishes them for voter information. He told commissioners that the county follows a 30‑day “close of books” rule for voter updates and that changes made now will take effect only for the fall election.
On mail‑in ballots, Sibley said the parish does not discard ballots but followed state direction regarding which races would be counted when state action affected those contests. He said the office is working overtime to mail ballots, and urged voters to contact the registrar’s hotline (226‑6891) if a ballot does not arrive or if they encounter a precinct problem on Election Day.
Sibley also said early voting will begin Friday, June 12 (rather than the usual Saturday) because of the Juneteenth holiday. He encouraged the registrar’s office and commissioners to coordinate outreach via PSAs, the parish website and partnerships with local groups to make sure voters know where and when to cast ballots.
