Solon swears in new fire lieutenant; department recognizes two retirements

Solon City Council paused its agenda to promote and swear in Ryan Bradley as a lieutenant for Solon Fire and Rescue.
Mayor Krause introduced Bradley's promotion, noting Bradley's eight years in the fire service and more than six years with Solon Fire and Rescue, and cited numerous certifications and committee service. "These promotions are really, really important for the community," the mayor said, praising the department's training and lifesaving work.
Bradley took the oath and thanked colleagues; council members and the chief congratulated him.
The administration also recognized two long‑time members of the Solon Fire Department: Lieutenant Matt Eshelman, who served 27 years with 24 years in Solon, and Margie Abbott, who retired after 27 years of service. Chief Toth and others lauded their contributions to department culture and operations.
Council members offered congratulations during council comments and highlighted community events in the weeks ahead.
