Local organizers brief council on April 'Sumter Crusade' tent revival

Organizers of a multi-church event called the "Sumter Crusade" gave the Sumter City Council a brief presentation on March 17 about a planned tent revival to run April 20–May 1 at 2801 Broad Street (corner of Mason Road and Highway 378).
A group the mayor invited to speak described a roughly seven-person organizing team that has staged similar events across South Carolina and the Southeast. The presenter (whom the mayor addressed as Joey) said the event will feature four evangelists from the region, eight to 10 gospel singing groups, and that the tent venue can seat thousands. The organizers provided a short, roughly 45-second video featuring lead evangelist Pastor CT Townsend, who said the tent "can seat about 5,000 people" and that hundreds of people come to faith at their revivals.
Organizers asked the council and community to help promote the event and to expect increased traffic during the two-week run; the mayor thanked the presenters and noted staff will help with outreach and logistics as appropriate.
