Commission accepts donation of Safety Harbor Museum collection for public access

The commission voted June 1 to accept a donation of the Safety Harbor Museum of Regional History collection and archives for long-term public access. Recreation Director Julia Inman said the collection consists of current exhibits, artifacts and archived historical documents already stored at the museum and cultural center managed by the Leisure Services Department.
Inman noted a CRA line item of $100,000 for museum display improvements had been pushed to a later fiscal year and that future ADA accessibility upgrades and display renovations will be budgeted when fiscally appropriate. Under Administrative Policy 1.47, the commission must approve donations valued above $25,000; staff recommended acceptance and the motion passed 4-0.
