Carmel Board of Public Works approves multiple procurement items, permits and contracts

The Carmel Board of Public Works on June 3 approved a slate of routine procurement and permit items across departments and took actions on several public-event requests.
The board approved minutes from the May 20 meeting and approved multiple bid awards, including vehicle replacements for the fire department (Kelly Auto Group), a $1,249,000 recommendation to Calumet Civil Contractors for STR-04 range-line improvements, and a series of departmental purchases and contracts: a $90,000 training "prop house" for the fire department, INDOT LPA coordination for the 116th Street path, a $0 change order for Reith Riley Construction on College Avenue that extends completion dates, a deduction for Community Container Solutions that reduced a fire training facility cost by about $23,000, a CivicPlus renewal for the city's web and 3-1-1 systems ($132,804.74), and an American StructurePoint amendment for bridge repair design services ($122,550).
On event permits the board denied an application for a Juneteenth festival because the application missed the city's 60-day submission requirement. The Carmel Marathon event request for April 2027 was approved; Dia de la Familia and a Diwali Media Day application were tabled so staff and public-safety departments can review logistics and consider alternate locations. Several other events (items 6e–6g) were approved after departments signed off.
Motions were carried by voice vote on the items above. Staff noted some items came from infrastructure bonds or standard state agreements and that additional, phase-specific contracts would follow where applicable. The board adjourned after completing its agenda.
