The commission recognized Speak Up: Let’s Talk About Mental Health on June 1 for a suite of community programs aimed at reducing stigma and supporting youth mental health.
Dawn Hanley described the group's work after losing a child to suicide and said Speak Up has installed five kindness memorial benches throughout the city, sponsored murals in parks and at Countryside High School, and launched a teen art night that began with five participants and now draws 20–25 teenagers weekly. Hanley credited local sponsors, the Kiwanis Club of Safety Harbor, local businesses and artists for partnering on the initiatives.
Mayor Ayub presented a certificate of appreciation for the group's outreach and recognized partnerships with nonprofits and city staff in placing benches and murals. Hanley encouraged residents to attend upcoming events and thanked city leadership for support.
