Harrisville Arts Council cleared to use grant funds for pavilion upgrades and electrical work

The council approved the Harrisville Arts Council’s request to use grant funding for upgrades to the fireman’s pavilion and to add electrical capacity to city grounds for Harmony Weekend; the council also heard that a new Pocket Park kaleidoscope was funded in part by a $2,500 Arts Council grant.
Teri O’Callahan, representing the Harrisville Arts Council, asked the council for permission to use part of a grant to update the fireman’s pavilion and install additional electrical service on the Harmony Weekend grounds. Council approved the request by a unanimous vote.
Earlier in the meeting Becky Bean, chair of the Tree Board and Beautification Committee, detailed community contributions to a new Pocket Park kaleidoscope sculpture: a $2,500 grant from the Harrisville Arts Council, a $2,000 donation from the artist RC Anderson, $2,000 in city-sponsored funds and remaining funds from memorial brick purchases.
The council’s approval allows the Arts Council to proceed with planning pavilion upgrades and electrical work; any subsequent contracts or spending will be brought back to council for formal action if required by procurement rules.
