Several commissioners used their allotted reports to inform residents about upcoming civic deadlines and community events.
Commissioner Neron urged eligible Union County voters to use early voting or vote by mail ahead of Election Day on Tuesday, June 2, 2026, and provided early-voting hours and contact info for the county Board of Elections. "Any eligible Union County voter may also use early voting locations and will receive the correct ballot for their municipality," Neron said, and reminded voters that drop boxes and the Board of Elections office are available for returning mail ballots.
Commissioner Signorello highlighted Pride Month events, including a flag raising at the Union County Courthouse on June 1 and a 5K in Oak Ridge Park on June 6. Commissioner Leon announced Portuguese Heritage Month activities and a flag raising on June 3 at the courthouse, while Commissioner Palmeri Mudett noted Moody's reaffirmation of the county's AAA bond rating and recognized county cultural and senior-program activities.
The chair announced the Housing Choice Voucher (Section 8) waiting list will open Monday, June 1 at 9 a.m.; the county will accept 500 online applications only via the county website and reiterated that paper applications will not be accepted. "Only one application per household will be accepted," the chair said, warning that duplicates could disqualify applicants.
Other notices included park community days, recycling and hazardous-waste disposal events, and a native-plant swap and shop in June. County event details and registration information were posted to the county website as referenced by commissioners.
