At the June 16 Garden City Board of Trustees meeting, Police Chief Jeremy Black reported several developments for the town's police department.
Chief Black said he attended the Chiefs Association of Colorado Police Conference and participated in leadership and wellness training. He reported the department received eight tasers from the Evans Police Department. The chief said high-visibility enforcement is scheduled to begin in July.
Chief Black also reported the department is receiving a Colorado Leaf Grant to acquire a new lidar speed-measurement system and a $2,000 CIRSA grant to send the chief and a sergeant to a national chiefs association conference; he described those opportunities as supporting policy growth and succession planning.
During the same meeting, trustees approved tuition reimbursement of $672.96 for Officer Alyssa Bird. That motion was moved and seconded and approved unanimously.
The chief's report was presented as a staff update; no formal action was required beyond the separate reimbursement approval. The board adjourned at 6:05 PM.
