On April 21 the Shorewood Hills Village Board voted to waive the first and second readings for the portions of ordinance #L-2026-01 that transfer committee nomination authority from the Village President to the full Board of Trustees.
Trustees Shabnam Lotfi and Rocky Van Asten brought forward the revisions and Lotfi explained the proposed changes item by item, citing reasons for shifting nomination authority. Some changes were removed from consideration at the meeting because of posting language and the need for staff review; Village Administrator Brian Mooney and Finance Director Julie Fitzgerald said additional review time was appropriate under the village's Agenda Setting Policy. Attorney William Cole (appearing by Zoom) advised that the Board could suspend such rules to proceed. Trustees then voted to waive the first and second readings as they related to transferring nomination authority. The motion carried.
The Board discussed that ample time remains between the readings and the third reading for attorney and staff review. The minutes do not record a roll-call tally; the minutes state the motion carried.
