Shiocton police: National Night Out successful; Lake Park parking, archery range repairs addressed

Police Chief Sara Knapp reported to the Shiocton Village Board on July activity at the Aug. 12 meeting, saying National Night Out “went well” and providing updates on lake and park operations.
Chief Knapp told trustees that since the July meeting there were two additional ball tournaments at Lake Park. One tournament generated several parking tickets; the other fared better because drier ground opened more parking space. Knapp recommended discussing parking logistics with Summer Sports during a winter board meeting to reduce future problems.
The chief also said the archery range will be closed for a short time while the village repairs the range fence and addresses a couple of other maintenance items. Jim Fank reported he reset the buoys prior to the Ruff Fish event to support safe lake use.
The board heard the report as part of routine department updates; no formal action was taken on parking or range maintenance at this meeting. Trustees adjourned at 6:38 p.m.
