Krizan noted several points of pride: students advancing to state competitions in spelling and wrestling, the SCMS orchestra’s recognition in a music photo contest, 'Music in Our Schools' month and other extracurricular highlights. He announced that Wendy Esch will retire at the end of the school year and provided a brief financial update on revenue and expenses. Krizan also said architects and engineers are finalizing plans and that interior and site meetings for the building project continue.
An information presentation followed from school social workers who described services across the district. Presenters included Jodi Guenther (SCMS), Elizabeth Basten (UWGB intern), Mikaela Lee (Hillcrest), Danielle Zurkowski (Olga Brener) and Taylor Hoffman (SCHS). The social workers outlined programming and activities intended to support student well‑being and encouraged continued coordination with staff and families.
Committee updates included a finance report from Bobbi Lemerond noting the purchase of two special‑education vans using grant funds, and a facilities update from John Arens. Superintendent Krizan also reiterated the Shawano FFA Alumni donations ($9,831.79 for small‑animal cages and $400 for FFA‑week ice cream) to ensure the record reflected the gift.
Board members requested a future closed session as a reflection/follow‑up item. The meeting adjourned at 6:03 p.m.
