Council adopts FY 2026–27 budget; notes water projects and grant funding

The Daniel Town Council unanimously adopted the fiscal year 2026–27 budget (DR 2026-06-01B) on June 1 and approved final budget amendments for FY 2025–26 (DR 2026-06-01A).
Clerk/Recorder Megan Goodrich highlighted items in the adopted budget: a Southfield Waterline Extension with an $88,200 expense to be paid from impact-fee funds; $48,750 in Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funding to be applied to the Storm Haven Master Plan (the total cost of that master plan was reported as $65,000, leaving a Town-funded remainder after CDBG is exhausted); and $40,000 from the Division of Drinking Water for a Storm Haven lead-and-copper inventory. Goodrich also noted that ARPA funds are being used for Daniel Municipal Water lead-and-copper work.
Councilmember Walton moved to close the hearing on the budget and Councilmember Rose seconded; the council then voted to approve DR 2026-06-01B. The roll call vote was unanimous.
The budget adoption enables the listed water projects to move forward; the Storm Haven Master Plan and the Southfield Waterline extension will proceed under the funding structure described, and the town noted a potential FEMA BRIC grant application for permanent backup generators at Storm Haven and Daniel Municipal well sites that would require a 25% town match if awarded.
