Shrewsbury aldermen approve Public Safety Building HVAC replacement; advance two administrative contracts

The Shrewsbury Board of Aldermen on Aug. 12 approved a contract to replace the heating, ventilation and air-conditioning and water-heating systems at the City's Public Safety Building and moved two administrative contracts forward on first reading.

The board voted unanimously to give final passage to Bill No. 4051, authorizing a contract with American Boiler Services Inc. to replace HVAC and water-heating systems at the Public Safety Building. Alderperson Bette Welch made the motions for second reading and final passage; Alderman Beth Parker seconded both motions; the minutes record both votes as passing unanimously.

The board also advanced two administrative measures on first reading. Bill No. 4052, to contract with Marxam, LLC and FP Mailing Solutions for postage meter rental and maintenance, and Bill No. 4053, to contract with EMS Management & Consultants, Inc. for medical billing and collection services, each received a motion for first reading from Alderperson Bette Welch and a second from Alderman Jacob Riley and passed on first reading by unanimous vote.

These items were recorded on the consent and ordinances portions of the agenda and drew no extended public debate in the minutes. The minutes list sponsors: Bill No. 4051 was sponsored by Alderman John Odenwald; Bills No. 4052 and No. 4053 were sponsored by Alderperson Bette Welch.

The board's minutes do not record individual roll-call tallies for the unanimous votes beyond the statement that the motions passed unanimously.
