Board reviews parks maintenance: honeysuckle removal, memorial trees, playground and tennis repairs

At Wehner Park, Glenn Kramer and a participant named Kathy reported spring cleanup; Beth Parker and Christine McDermott will assist with pollinator-garden weeding. The board noted honeysuckle has returned and scheduled potential removal this fall; MDC may provide removal tools. Seed ball fields are scheduled for fall work; Fields 2 and 3 are irrigated. Members mentioned replacement of several trees, including 'Sam’s tree,' and discussed a maintenance fee for St. Michael’s upkeep.
Amy George reported Brinkop Park is generally in good condition, with acceptable bathrooms, a sealed path and trees removed behind the pavilion; the pavilion may need painting and the park’s grill is considered too small and in need of replacement. Beth Parker said the large playground is in better condition than the smaller playground and that replacement options may be needed. At Hartry Park, Christine McDermott and Glenn Kramer reported routine status and identified a sun area that needs seeding. Chris Buck raised the need to consider removal of a swing set at Ackfeld Park and noted the tennis courts require repair.
Board members assigned assistance roles for memorial-tree selection and noted the city policy that if a memorial tree survives one year the city is no longer responsible for it. No formal maintenance motions or votes were recorded; items will be tracked through committee reports and scheduled worklists.
