The downtown city center park in Chanhassen is nearing completion, city presenters and construction staff said in a video tour, with playground equipment, a skate park, pickleball courts, a performance stage and a pavilion largely in place.
The Presenter opened the tour by listing the park’s major features and addressing residents directly: "We can't wait for you to enjoy the splash pad, the skate park, the pickleball courts, the performance stage, the playground, the park pavilion," before joining construction partners on site for an update.
A staff member leading the site update said crews have installed the playground equipment and completed underground work for the splash pad, and that crews are working through final items such as concrete pours and last-minute adjustments. The staff member described how crews are "working the concrete up the hill, kinda working south to north from 78th all the way up to the school property," and that the team has had to time some work around rain.
On the performance pavilion, the staff member said most of the concrete and ramp work is in place and that site grading and other structural elements have been finished since the previous tour. He described the area as designed to host bands and audiences, with green lawn space and staggered seat walls "that'll basically be able to give more seating for the community to watch the events." He noted there are three seat walls running from stair to stair to provide additional seating.
The staff member said the skate park equipment and pickleball courts are being finalized and cleaned up for handover. He also described remaining pavilion interior work: completion of controls, installation of rubber safety flooring, an indoor/outdoor fireplace, concessions and both interior and exterior community restrooms.
Reflecting on the project, the staff member said, "It's just beautiful, and I hope the community enjoys it just as much as we are," and said the construction team looks forward to handing the park over to the city. The tour did not include a specific grand opening date.
City officials and construction partners did not announce a timetable for the formal handover or opening during the video tour; those details were listed as not specified in the site update.
