Brentwood opens Safe Streets grant RFP; seven proposals submitted

Brentwood officials opened seven proposals for a Safe Streets grant solicitation during a special town council meeting on April 22, staff said.

Staff told the council the RFP was published April 3, a pre-bid meeting was held April 15, and proposals were due April 21 at 5 p.m. “Overall, it was a very good solicitation. We got seven responses,” the staff member said, then read the bidder list aloud: Tool Design; BAI (Brutus and Associates Inc.); AMT 70; Cambridge Systematic; Sheladia and Associates Inc.; an unnamed sixth respondent (name unclear in the record); and EFC.

Why it matters: the Safe Streets grant will guide which projects the town can fund and when work can start. Staff said the next step is tabulation and scoring of proposals, followed by selection of a preferred bidder. The council discussed timing for those steps and whether the town should complete tabulation and any selection before the May 5 municipal election so the outgoing council finishes the procurement work.

Council members and staff differed slightly on the timeline.
