Brighton advisory board begins drafting bylaws to guide governance and subcommittees

At the May 14 meeting, staff introduced a bylaws template to guide the Sustainability Advisory Board's organizational structure and governance. Traci McLean outlined required bylaw sections including board purpose, membership, powers and duties, and noted potential provisions for virtual participation, attendance, conduct and meeting frequency.
Members discussed consideration of member expertise and sustainability subject areas, and expressed interest in forming future subcommittees focused on topics such as energy and waste diversion. The board also expressed interest in additional board and commission training opportunities through CIRSA/SIRSA ethics workshops.
No formal bylaw adoption occurred; the board listed continued bylaws development as unfinished business and placed it on future agendas for further drafting and review.
