The Smithville Board of Aldermen on April 21 approved Resolution 1579 authorizing Mayor Boley to execute an updated employment agreement with City Administrator Cynthia Wagner.
Alderman Chelsea Dana moved to approve Resolution 1579 and Alderman Dan Hartman seconded. There was no discussion; the resolution was approved by a 6-0 roll-call vote.
In related staff updates, Wagner told the Board the Police Department has submitted an application for the Blue Shield program to seek additional funding opportunities and statewide recognition. She also reported that an aging HVAC unit installed in 1989 is failing; Facilities Manager Brett Teel is researching replacement options, parts have been ordered, and a future budget amendment will be brought forward to authorize the expenditure. Wagner announced the promotion of Trevor Ballard to sergeant, effective April 19, and said a pinning ceremony is scheduled for May 1 at 4:00 p.m.
What’s next: The employment agreement may be executed by the Mayor per the resolution; staff will return with a budget amendment for the HVAC replacement and the Police Department will provide additional information about the sergeant selection process.
