Shawano School District board adjourns into closed session under state personnel statute, reconvenes with no action

The Shawano School District board voted Sept. 12 to adjourn into closed session to consider personnel matters under Wisconsin State Statute 19.85(1)(f). President Mike Musolff called the special meeting to order at 5:00 p.m. in the District Board Room at Shawano Community High School.

Board member Bobbi Lemerond moved to approve the meeting agenda; Christine McKinnies seconded. The recorded roll call in the meeting text lists Tim Renard, Christine McKinnies, Frank Kugel, Bobbi Lemerond, Jeana Winslow, Mike Musolff, Karen Houston (virtual) and John Arens as voting “aye,” and the motion carried. Al Pyatskowit was noted as absent.

Mrs. Lemerond then moved, and Mr. Renard seconded, to adjourn to closed session “considering financial, medical social or personal histories or disciplinary data of specific persons, preliminary consideration of specific personnel problems or the investigation of charges against specific person” under Wisconsin State Statute 19.85(1)(f). The board proceeded into closed session as moved.

The board reconvened in open session at 6:29 p.m.; the minutes record that no action was taken on matters discussed in closed session. After reconvening, Mrs. Karen Houston moved to adjourn and Mr. Renard seconded. The meeting was recorded as adjourned at 6:29 p.m., with the same members previously recorded as voting “aye.”
