The Select Board voted to acquire an easement for $5,000 at 53 Page Road to construct a sidewalk that will fill a gap in the town's pedestrian network between Page Road and the Shawsheen/Hemlock area.
DPW staff said the property at 53 Page is one of two properties (49 and 53 Page Road) that would together close a sidewalk gap. "Yes," the DPW presenter said when asked whether plans and coordination with 49 Page were in place; he added that if 53 resolves the town will work with 49 and return with construction plans.
A motion authorizing acquisition of the easement for $5,000 and directing the town manager to take required actions carried on roll call.
Why it matters: The easement will allow the town to complete a missing link in the sidewalk network and improve pedestrian connectivity between neighborhoods.
What happens next: Staff will continue coordination with the owner of 49 Page Road, prepare construction plans and return to the board for final construction authorization and scheduling.
