A representative for the township's new trash contractor updated the Uwchlan Board of Supervisors on the transition plan and resident outreach ahead of a contract start.
The presenter said the contractor will deliver containers to residents and provide handouts and an informational flyer. He described a municipal-facing "municipal statistics" report and a resident-facing information packet and an email address to handle service questions. He told the board that "the first week of February is when we'll be doing the, swap out, so to speak, of the larger containers for the small." (contractor remark)
Residents and supervisors pressed for details. A resident asked how to request a smaller tote for an elderly neighbor; the presenter said residents can contact the contractor to request a different size and that the contractor expects an initial surge of requests during a roughly one-month transition period before demand stabilizes. A resident also asked whether totes remain the property of residents if a different contractor later wins a future contract; the presenter said that, in practice, the contractor would manage equipment and pick-up arrangements but that details would be determined by contract terms and transition logistics.
The board and contractor also discussed delivery timing (work to begin in the coming weeks), ways to minimize phone calls through a resident-facing email, and an outreach schedule. The board did not take formal action during the workshop; staff will finalize information materials and public notices before the contract begins.
