Park & Recreation presents trail-priority list to Uwchlan supervisors

The presenter said the list "is a distillation of trail priorities that had been mentioned in the the last comprehensive plan, the 2020 plan," and described about 20 potential connections, some internal and some linking to regional trails. The subcommittee that compiled the list started in 2023 and revised the spreadsheet and map after a October 2024 workshop.
Supervisors welcomed the work as a practical next step to turn plan goals into projects. One supervisor said the gap linking township trails to the Chester Valley Trail is particularly important and called for making a narrow uphill road crossing safer for pedestrians and cyclists.
The presenter noted the group tried to reduce subjectivity by assigning ratings of high, medium and low to projects, and said timing and property availability will affect which projects move forward. The board did not take any formal action; the presentation was introductory and the list will inform future Park & Recreation and board discussions.
The board did not set next steps during the workshop but invited Park & Recreation and staff to provide more detailed proposals when individual trail projects are ready for engineering or funding decisions.
