Claire Garrett, who earlier helped mobilize civic support for the park purchase, told commissioners the grant acceptance would help transform the acquired property into a passive park for residents after years of advocacy; she suggested naming or otherwise recognizing local activist Karen Caputo in future park materials. The commission recorded the vote in the normal course during the regular agenda and authorized staff to proceed with grant acceptance and matching‑fund arrangements.
City staff will return with implementation details and required grant paperwork. The motion authorizes grant acceptance contingent on the city securing the matching funds and completing grant agreements.
