Board allows longtime custom-closet business to continue as major home-based business with staff conditions

Planning staff said the property totals about 28 acres and that the business has operated from the site for roughly 19 years with an inventory of materials, approximately 11 employees, and on-site storage of five work vans and three trucks. Staff flagged vehicle-parking and lot-coverage questions and noted that some parking appears near a property boundary.
Bobby Moore, who identified himself as president of Closets and Moore Incorporated, said the business has operated without complaints and contributes to local sales tax. A nearby neighbor, Doug Maher, testified in support and described the Moores as strong community volunteers.
The board approved the special exception, including staff comments to ensure business vehicles and employee parking remain on the applicant’s property and to resolve any encroachments. Staff will monitor permits and parking arrangements as conditions of approval.
