Committee approves advertising multiple advisory-board vacancies; applications open June 19–July 17

The Richland County Rules and Appointments Committee approved sending notices to the full county council to advertise several advisory-board vacancies and set the application publication and deadline dates.

The committee reviewed the vacancies it will forward to full council: five openings on the Accommodations Tax Committee (including two seats requiring lodging-industry experience, one hospitality-industry seat, one cultural-background seat and one at-large seat); six openings on the Building Codes Board of Appeals (seats specified for an architect, gas-industry representative, plumbing-industry representative, engineering-industry representative and two fire-industry representatives); three openings on the Business Service Center Appeals board (two seats requiring CPAs and one seat to represent the business industry); and one opening on the Hospitality Tax Committee.

Miss Carrillo said the vacancies will be posted to run from June 19 through July 17, with the application deadline at the close of business on July 17. The chair moved to advertise the vacancies; a committee member seconded the motion and the committee approved it with all members present voting in favor. Committee materials referenced a vacancy schedule and applications on file (pages 11–13).

The chair thanked staff for maintaining the applicant lists and encouraged interested residents to apply and stay engaged with future vacancies. The committee will forward the advertisement request to the full council for publication and processing.
