During public comment at the Oct. 6 meeting, a resident at 213 Front Street asked about village ordinances concerning property appearance and blight; President McLimans said nuisance properties fall under a village ordinance and asked residents to report specific concerns to him, a trustee or Clerk Atterbury.
A resident at 430 Mill Street presented an Austin Engineering survey and complained that a neighbor at 440 Mill Street had constructed an 85‑foot house on a 59‑foot lot with a lawnmower shed encroaching over the property line and that spraying had damaged his apple tree; trustees advised this is a private legal matter and recommended consulting an attorney.
Separately, a resident at 319 Bowery Street raised objections to a required retaining wall for a new house, saying it would block yard access, force removal of a long‑grown mountain ash tree and impose an unnecessary expense; President McLimans offered to meet with Building Inspector Josh Copsey to review the site. The board postponed action on a land use permit for KC Investments at 109 State Hwy 35 until the Nov. meeting and requested a written plan from the owner; no work may proceed until the permit is approved.
