Officials identified potential funding sources: the treasurer reported roughly $34,000 in a LGIP account labeled for park dedication fees and the board has budgeted $125,000 for capital. Speakers said some money set aside from prior deposits or developer-related funds could be applied to road work, and discussed the possible need for a short-term loan depending on bids and final scope.
Board members and staff also raised site-specific engineering concerns. A committee member flagged drainage on Edgewood Avenue where older storm infrastructure stops short, saying it may be necessary to connect a problem property’s sump discharge to the existing system to prevent standing water. Members recommended moving detailed design and drainage decisions to the public works committee and returning with a project recommendation.
The board approved a motion directing public works to prepare a road project plan and cost estimate for consideration at the next village board meeting. The motion passed by voice vote; the clerk did not read a roll-call tally on the record.
The next step is for public works to present a written project proposal with estimated costs, recommended phasing and potential financing options; board members said bids should go out no later than early March if the village intends to complete work in the 2025 construction season.
