Public works staff: tennis ball park renovation delayed; fall brush pickup scheduled

A staff member reported that the planned renovation of the village tennis ball park will not proceed this year because of a funding conflict between the celebrations budget and the finance committee. The staff member said, “Tennis ball ball park renovation is not gonna happen this year. It's a conflict between celebrations and the finance committee.”

The staff member listed several immediate maintenance priorities for residents to expect: stump grinding at a problem tree on Jackson Parkway, erosion-control work in Ripple Brook East handled by the building inspector and the village engineer, and significant brush clearing on the bike trail planned for October. The staff member also reminded residents the last dumpster date is Sept. 21 and that fall brush pickup is scheduled the week of Oct. 14–18.

On recent purchases, the staff member said the village purchased 30 brown mats at about $189 apiece: “I was able to get a ... deal of a $189 a piece. So we got 30 of them.” The update praised long-time concrete worker Larry O’Brien for finishing recent sidewalk and concrete work and noted a dead deer found near a track was sent to a biologist for follow-up; the staff member said the village is awaiting the biologist’s report.

The staff member also warned that conditions were too wet along parts of the river to bring in equipment for additional work and that tree crews will continue to address limbs arcing on power lines along the 164 Lehi corridor. Residents with questions were invited to follow the village website for scheduling updates.

The staff member said work crews will address remaining stumps and place seating and soil where necessary. The village said it will return with more specific timelines after the finance and celebrations budgets are reconciled.
