Brownsville board denies three-dog variance; approves liquor license, fees and purchases

The Village of Brownsville board on Sept. 10 denied a variance to allow three dogs at a home on 504 Highland Ave after Trustee John F. Pesch’s motion received no second and therefore failed. The village had held a public hearing on the request; two members of the public commented before the hearing closed at 6:05 p.m.
The board approved a slate of routine business. Trustees approved the Aug. 13, 2025 regular meeting minutes and the financial report as of Aug. 31, 2025. The board granted a Temporary Class B/Class B Retailer’s Liquor License to Brownsville Fire Company Inc. for a fundraising event set for Nov. 7, 2025, at the Brownsville Community Center, 871 Main St. Trustees also set village trick-or-treat hours for Oct. 31, 2025, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m., and approved Brownsville Athletic Association player fees for 2026 at $21.00.
The board approved purchases and payments that it said support village operations. Trustees approved the purchase of two 18-inch PMD speed signs with LED lights from Kustom Signals. General government and utility bills totaling $77,235.41 (checks numbered 31301–31330) were audited and approved for payment.
The meeting opened with President Timothy Kemmel calling roll and the Pledge of Allegiance and concluded with a motion to adjourn that carried at 7:01 p.m.
