Brodhead council appoints Megan Scheurell as BID chair, approves new router purchase; TID review to return

The Brodhead Common Council appointed Megan Scheurell as the city’s Business Improvement District chair and authorized the purchase of a new router with a three‑year license at its July 29 meeting.
Alderperson Baxter called the meeting to order at 6:02 p.m. and the clerk recorded Alderpersons Baxter, Burkhalter, Gritzmaker, Naramore and Sauer as present; Mayor Simpson and Dave Ferris of Ehlers attended virtually. Alderperson Nyman was absent. City Treasurer Keri Miller, City Clerk Kristin Covert and Police Chief Brian Raupp were also listed as in attendance.
Consultant Dave Ferris of Ehlers provided a review of Tax Increment District (TID) matters via GoToMeeting and answered council questions. Ferris told the council the TID material was presented for information and that further discussion of TIDs will be scheduled at a future meeting.
On the agenda item to fill the vacant BID chair, Alderperson Gritzmaker moved to approve Megan Scheurell for the position; Alderperson Burkhalter seconded the motion. The minutes record “All ayes,” and the motion carried, installing Scheurell as BID chair.
Treasurer Keri Miller outlined options for replacing the city’s router and noted that software licensing could transfer to a replacement device. Alderperson Sauer moved to purchase a new router with a three‑year license, funding the purchase from contingency account 11-51-5190-800; Alderperson Naramore seconded. The minutes record “All ayes,” and the motion carried.
Alderperson Sauer moved to adjourn at 6:41 p.m.; Alderperson Burkhalter seconded and the minutes record “All ayes.” The minutes were submitted by City Clerk Kristin Covert.
The council did not take final action on any TID decisions; Ferris’ review was informational and the record notes further TID discussion will occur at a future meeting.
