The Boonville City Council on Jan. 6 voted to approve several routine and substantive items, including an appropriation ordinance totaling $530,420.35, a replat of property at 520 Ryan Street (Main Street Center), and a resolution to authorize lead and asbestos abatement work at Kemper Park A and D Barracks.
The appropriation ordinance, read into the record by the clerk, allocated $530,420.35 across funds: general fund $178,547.09; waterworks $123,052.43; wastewater $76,944.81; gaming $95,908.60; tourism and parks line items among others. A council member moved the ordinance, a second was recorded, and roll call votes were recorded as affirmative; the ordinance passed.
On the replat (bill 2024-021) the council approved a second reading, and the measure passed by roll call vote.
Council also approved resolution 2025-01 authorizing an agreement among the city, Boonslick Community Development Corporation and Spectrum Environmental LLC for hazardous‑materials abatement at Kemper Park A and D Barracks. The resolution cites a prior quitclaim deed and a development agreement requiring cleanup before transfer to Kemper Apartments LLC and authorizes city officials to execute the contract. Council discussion noted that one contractor declined the project and that basement conditions contributed to bid differences; staff said 'Titan didn't want the job.' The motion passed.
Chair introduced a first reading of bill 2025-001 to renew a five‑year capital improvement (CIP) sales tax; that item advanced as a first reading with no final vote.
The council received brief administrative reports about pending leases (Veil Ridge, the golf course, and a lease with the Cook County Prosecuting Attorney's office) and welcomed a new staff member who started Jan. 2. The meeting adjourned following unanimous voice approval.
