Brownsville marshal reports May enforcement activity; DPW flags storm damage and equipment needs

Marshal Stuckart told the Village of Brownsville Board on June 11 that in May his office issued 33 traffic citations and 19 traffic warnings, conducted 34 traffic stops and responded to four mutual aid requests. Trustees voted to approve the marshal’s report.
Superintendent of Public Works Troy Lechner updated the board on recent storm-related infrastructure impacts and ongoing summer work. Lechner said a lightning strike associated with a tornado event knocked out some street lights and a ground-fault interrupter at a lift station; while investigating the lift station he said crews discovered a bad pump that has been sent for repair. Lechner also said assistant DPW Adam Kemmel has been working on park projects and temporary work in the clerk’s office while the clerk is away.
Lechner reported the village rented a street sweeper from Serwe Implement; the sweeper is making streets look better but will require an additional pass. He also noted the skid steer required maintenance and showed warning signs of future mechanical issues, and he said the village may need to consider purchasing properly sized equipment next year.
